Ioana Moldovan provided an answer to this question in this review of IKEA:

Clients can pay on IKEA's webstore using the following cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Althernative payment methods such as PayPal or BillMeLater are not supported at the moment. Nevertheless, the range of supported credit cards should please most customers. For purchases made at IKEA stores more payment methods are supported, including cash and debit cards.

no Im sorry but Paypal is the only method I use, I am not up for giving all and sundry my credit card details everytime I pay online.

thats why its not suitable for me or should not be for most people. Security is everything when buying on line.

Ikea you really need to embrace technology as you really are very slow to do this.
